All Hallows’ has registered for the Great Book Swap to raise funds for The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. During Week 6 we celebrated Reconciliation Week with a Smoking Ceremony, Morning tea, Book displays and many more. We also want to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and raised over $500.

Every year our school participates in the National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC week school initiatives, which reinforces our teaching of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cross-curriculum priority. NAIDOC Week always falls during the holidays (3 July-10 July) so we focus on Reconciliation Week 27 May-3 June. All Hallows’ School are very excited this year to be working with the P&F to provide a shared community experience.

There was a smoking ceremony and a short talk by Trevor (Dalmarri) at 9am taking place on the basketball court. The school captains along with Cindy and Pita (two of our Indigenous students) assisted with the lighting of the comera.
Parents were then invited to the Shared space to share in some morning tea (slices and biscuits) from Dreamtime Tuka. There was also a pop-up book stall from Children’s Bookshop featuring First Nations books.

Throughout the day, classes actively participated in a presentation by indigenous performer, Majeda Beatty.

All Hallows’ has also registered for the Great Book Swap to raise funds for The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.  All students are given the opportunity to donate a book and a gold coin
